Program Highlights

Shibir Venue:

Somerset Camp, 1180 Stanley Pocket Road, Crossdale QLD 4312. PH: 07 5426 0126. The venue is located only one and half hours drive North West of Brisbane (between Somerset Dam and the Mt Mee State Forest). The venue is approximately 12km away from Wivenhoe Somerset Road and Stanley Pocket Road intersection. You will see BJS sign board at the entrance; the venue will be on your right.

Arrival date/time:

Friday, 14 March 2014 between 3 and 5 PM; this is when the registration process will take place. Dinner will be served immediately upon arrival. Sunset is at 6:00 PMNo food will be served after sunset.  Rooms will be allocated to all and everyone must stay in the allocated room. A briefing session plus Shibir subject introduction will commence at 7PM.  Car park facility is available at the venue.

Departure date/time:

Sunday, 16 March 2014 between 2 and 3 PM. Prabhavana will be given after closing session at 12 PM.


Country resort/camp style accommodation with common washroom/toilet facility for individual rooms. Each individual room shall consist of 8 to 12 beds that will be shared with other BJS members. There will be separate accommodation for gents and ladies. None of the gents or ladies can share room together except for babies or young children.


Please review proposed daily programme in attached document (We may make minor adjustments). All attendees are required to attend all events of this residential Shibir.

Dress Code:

All attendees are required to come in with appropriate clothing. Shorts, miniskirts or any such inappropriate clothing will not be permitted during the entire Shibir period. Traditional Indian clothing is preferred.


BJS has arranged catering from Brisbane supported by locals to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for all of us according to Jainism principles (as much as possible). No food will be served before Navkarshi and after sunset under any circumstances. Meals will be served only in dining area.

Child Minding:

In order to help parents attend Pravachan, BJS organised few child carers to look after young children during Pravachan period ONLY. A detailed information by separate email will be sent to the parents who have requested for child minding facility.

Boiled Water:

Boiled water will be provided to those who have requested. If you have any tapasya, please do let us know.


Contact Numbers:

List of contact numbers will be included in your folder, should require any assistance.


All attendees between age of 15 and 65 will be assigned to a group. Each such group will be required to provide their services (Seva) ONCE in 3 days of this Shibir. This will enable all attendees to get the benefit (labh) of Sadharmik Bhakti.

Interstate Attendees:

Someone from Shibir team will contact inter-state attendees for any special instructions in relation to transportation.

List of things attendees should bring:

1.      Change of clothes for each day and night dress – Please bring appropriate clothes – No shorts or miniskirts or any such inappropriate clothing. Traditional clothing preferred.

2.      Comfortable pair of clothes for Yoga session

3.      Pooja and Samayik Clothes

4.      Towel & Thongs

5.      Toiletries - soap, hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, face washer, medicine, etc.

6.      Insect repellent – Please do not bring anything that will kill mosquito. Please consider bringing Odomos or similar cream as there is a possibility of mosquitos around the area.

7.      Torch and Water bottle

8.      Jumper – subject to weather forecast

9.      Mobile Charger – we may have limited power points in each room.

10.    Coins for phone - Area does not have very good mobile network.

11.    Linen is provided by the venue. But if you wish you may bring your own.
